Every year on Labor Day weekend, the little town of Frankfort, Illinois becomes a Mecca for lovers of crafts, artisan crafters, music lovers, foodies and carnival goers. The Frankfort Fall Festival celebrates the end of summer, the beginning of autumn and all that is handmade in the Midwest and throughout the US. Each and every year Frankfort comes alive with Fall Fest. The Frankfort Chamber of Commerce along with the Village of Frankfort and the Fire Department put on one of the highest rated festivals in the US.
The streets of historic Frankfort overflow with visitors for the three days of Fall Fest. Over a quarter of a million people enjoy the picturesque downtown area where the streets of this quaint shopping district are lined with artisan and crafter’s booths, more than 300 booths. Live music performed in the beer gardens and on Breidert Green stage throughout the three days adds to the festive atmosphere. Carnival ride aficionados get a thrill a minute at the Fire Department sponsored carnival and families enjoy the Fall Festival parade on Saturday beginning at 1pm. Plus the charming shops of historic Frankfort are bursting at the seams with fall merchandise, special offers and amazing items for you and your home inside their shops as well as outside. Be sure to seek out these shops that make up this delightful shopping district.
Community organizations sponsor special events, food booths and generally help out in many ways to make this festival run smoothly. Groups from the high school are on clean-up duty and many churches and other organizations sponsor food and parking venues as a fund raiser for their group. Everyone in Frankfort has the chance to volunteer in some capacity to make thing run smoothly and also enjoy the feeling of community togetherness. Look for the yellow and blue shirted volunteers that help make this event one that is nationally recognized. NUMBER 5 to be exact! Congratulations 2016 Volunteers!
