I usually start my day with a cup of tea reading other bloggers posts. A few days ago I came across a post from a blogger I follow, GeorgieMoon about a writing challenge for the month of April that consists of using the alphabet as a catalyst to jump start each day. Now, I am well aware there are 30 days in April and only 26 letters in the alphabet. The challenge starts on the first with “A” then you get the following four Sundays off and finish on the last Monday with “Z”.
There is no daily prompt other than the next letter in the alphabet. Thinking on this, you might try a theme for the month like people, places or things. At Christmas I did 25 Days of Christmas Cookies with each day a different treat for the holidays which I really enjoyed writing about. Photographs, favorite quotes, or recipes might be a theme. Whatever you choose, just remember to blog everyday (except the last 4 Sundays) and use the next letter in the alphabet.
If you’d like to join the challenge you can find out more about it here. I found their website a little difficult and I’m not sure I want to sign up for the official challenge, the prizes and the convention. I just want to try this. So, I will be independently challenging myself to produce a new post everyday in alphabetic order during the month of April.
The idea of writing everyday with a particular letter as a prompt should prove challenging enough but I will be in Texas at an antique market for the first week of April, then fly to Baltimore to spend Greek Easter with my daughter’s family for the next week and a half so this should really be a challenge. But, that being said, I think I can do it. In fact I commit to carrying this out. Now, all I have to figure out is what do I write about? Wish me luck.
