“H” is for Himalayan Green Tea

Octavia Tea’s Himalayan Green tea is probably my favorite green tea.  You cannot go wrong with it.  Brewed with the right amount of tea and the correct temperature water, this tea will never be bitter or grassy like some green teas. Because this tea is picked on the same estates as Darjeeling black tea, the leaves have a natural smoothness not found in most green teas.  The area the tea is grown in, climate, soil conditions and time of year the tea is picked directly impact the flavor of all teas and any tea grown in the  Himalayan mountains is a smooth relaxing tea.

The Darjeeling area is known for the smoothness of their teas….in fact, Darjeeling is called the champagne of teas. So it follows that Himalayan Green would be equally smooth and refreshing.  With a fresh, mellow flavor and gentle earthy and floral undertones, this easy-to-drink, antioxidant-rich tea will refresh both body and mind.  This green Darjeeling version is more floral, rather than vegetal in character.  Himalayan Green is a great everyday green tea.

For a delightful way to start your day, try this blueberry green tea smoothie.  I love it without the honey but some may like it a little sweeter.  Brew a bigger pot of tea and chill it overnight to make a smoothie in the morning.

Blueberry Green Tea Smoothie

  • 1 cup strong green tea, chilled
  • 1/2 cup plain non fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)

Put all ingredients into the jar of a blender.  Blend on high till smooth.  Enjoy!

If you’d like to try Himalayan Green tea for yourself, go to Octavia Tea’s website HERE or look for Octavia teas in specialty shops.
